As a twin mom, self-care often feels like a distant memory. Between bottles, diapers, naps, and the beautiful whirlwind that comes with raising two babies at once, it’s easy to forget even the simplest tasks, like brushing your teeth or washing your face. Over time, I’ve learned that self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate to make a difference. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that help you feel human again.
Finding Structure Through Todoist
One of the biggest game-changers for me has been using the Todoist app. Every single day, I dump everything that’s on my mind into its inbox, from errands to random reminders, and then sort them into different categories. The app helps me break big projects into smaller, doable steps and even reminds me to keep up with daily self-care tasks.
I’ve learned that writing everything down helps clear my mental clutter. Each morning, I review my list and decide what’s realistic for that day. If I don’t get something done, I simply move it to tomorrow. There’s no guilt, just a flexible plan that keeps me from feeling overwhelmed. Todoist has honestly become my brain outside my brain.
Baby Swings and 30 Minutes of Freedom
Every twin parent knows that finding even 30 minutes of quiet can feel impossible. For me, those precious minutes come thanks to our baby swings. My twins absolutely love them, they giggle, they sway, and for that short stretch of time, I get to breathe.
While they swing, I use a wearable pump and take care of small self-care rituals, washing my face, brushing my teeth, or simply sitting in silence. It might not sound like much, but those few moments are grounding. They remind me that I’m not just a mom; I’m a person who deserves care, too.
Small Wins Matter
I’ve realized that self-care doesn’t have to mean bubble baths and spa days (though I wouldn’t turn those down!). It’s about creating small systems that make your days smoother, like a well-organized to-do list or a simple 30-minute window of peace.
When you’re raising twins, every small win matters. Even checking off “brush teeth” on your list can feel like a victory, and honestly, it is.
