What is your mission?
At first glance, it feels like one of those questions you’re supposed to answer confidently. Like you should already know. Like your mission should be clearly defined, bold, and easy to explain in a sentence or two.
But the truth is, this question stopped me in my tracks.
I do not know if I have found my mission yet. At least not the way the word is often described. I do not have a neatly packaged purpose or a single calling that explains everything about my life. What I do have is a deep knowing. A certainty that I was meant to be a mother to these two boys.
Nothing I have ever done has felt more aligned. More grounding. More real. Becoming their mother changed me in ways I did not expect. It stripped me down and rebuilt me with more patience, more softness, and more awareness than I ever had before. Guiding them through this life feels sacred. It feels intentional. It feels like something I was always meant to do.
And yet, even with that certainty, I still feel it. That quiet nudge. That sense that there may be something else I am meant to do alongside motherhood. Not instead of it. Not to replace it. But to grow alongside it.
For a long time, I felt guilty for thinking this way. As if acknowledging that feeling somehow took away from how deeply I love being their mom. As if wanting more meant I was ungrateful for what I already have. But I am learning that two things can be true at once.
I can know that motherhood is my greatest purpose right now and still believe that I am becoming someone new. I can feel fulfilled and curious at the same time. I can be rooted in the present while still wondering about the future.
Maybe my mission right now is not something I need to define. Maybe it is something I am living. Showing up for my boys. Loving them gently. Teaching them how to exist in this world with kindness and confidence. Learning myself as I teach them.
There is something incredibly peaceful about releasing the pressure to figure it all out. About trusting that purpose unfolds when it is ready. About understanding that not every mission arrives with clarity. Some arrive quietly, disguised as everyday moments, long days, and ordinary routines.
I am excited for the future, not because I know exactly what it holds, but because I trust that I am on the right path. If there is something more waiting for me, I believe I will find it when the time is right. Or maybe it will find me.
Until then, I am here. I am present. I am becoming. And I am guiding these two boys into this life with as much love as I can give.
For now, that feels like enough.
